LOUIS VUITTON SPEEDY NIGO
Virgil Abloh, who had just been named Menswear Creative Director, had previously declared that the Japanese designer and DJ Nigo will be the subject of his first Louis Vuitton collaboration. The first collection of Louis Vuitton Speedy Nigo was released in August 2020. Nigo is well-known for his streetwear brand, Human Made, which is well-liked among the streetwear crowd. The team has returned for Pre-Spring 2022.
The second LV2 collection, like the first, expertly combines Nigo’s own fashion sense with some of Louis Vuitton’s most recognisable House Codes. This season LV2 builds on Nigo’s Japanese heritage and innate fashion sense, bringing them together once more by their connection and love of streetwear. Particularly, he was raised with influences from Western men’s fashion, which he still carries now.
The entire collection combines Western elements from the 1950s with 60s tailoring and is finished with a Japanese sensibility. The shapes of handbags and RTW silhouettes are studied with a formal eye yet finished with a subtle, relaxed grace. Through this viewpoint, the Keepall Bandouliere, Pochette, and Keepall XS are among of the brand’s most popular handbag styles, and new silhouettes are also investigated. On top of Taurillon leather, the iconic Louis Vuitton Monogram pattern is seen on blue or black denim in a dripping pattern.
