CHANEL 19 SMALL FLAP
The Classic Flap bag first appeared in February 1955. The Chanel 2.55 bag was designed by Gabrielle Chanel with women’s daily requirements in mind. The 2.55 was specifically the first women’s purse to have a shoulder strap. Women typically carried bags in their hands before the 1950s. Women might wear the 2.55 on any shoulder of their choosing, freeing up their hands. The name of this famous bag was inspired by the date of manufacture. The “2” represents February and the “55” represents 1955.
Over the years, the 2.55 bag has seen numerous redesigns. However, Karl Lagerfeld’s 1983 revamp was the most noteworthy. The traditional square twisting lock, often known as the “Mademoiselle Lock,” was previously a part of the 2.55 bag. The Mademoiselle Lock was modified by Karl Lagerfeld into the recognizable interlocking CC clasp we are all so accustomed to today. The 11.12 bag or the Chancel Classic flap is the result.
WHAT IS THE BEST SIZE AND HARDWARE FOR A CHANEL CLASSIC BAG?
The size of the bag is a matter of preference. I almost went with the small size of the Beige Clair Chanel Classic Flap purse due to my little stature. On my frame, the tiny size feels and appears better. You should, however, go with the bag size that makes you feel comfortable. Overall, the Medium and Jumbo sizes of Chanel Classic bags are the most popular. You may take a look at some of the many Chanel Classic bag sizes below:
- Chanel Classic Mini Flap Bag 6.7? W x 5.2? H x 3.1?
- Chanel Classic Flap Bag ? Mini Rectangular: 7.9? W x 4.9 H x 2.8? D
- Chanel Classic Flap Bag ? Small: 9.3? W x 5.7? H x 2.6? D
- Chanel Classic Flap Bag ? Medium: 10? W x 6.3? H x 3? D
- Chanel Classic Flap Bag ? Jumbo: 11.8? W x 7.7? H x 3.9? D
- Chanel Classic Flap Bag ? Maxi: 13? W x 9.1? H x 3.9? D
Hardware selection is a matter of personal preference. Chanel offers several varieties of hardware, including ruthenium hardware, gold hardware, and silver hardware (RHW). The most popular hardware types will come in several variations depending on the season and collection. Examples include polished silver or aged gold. It’s entirely up to you in terms of preferences and styling. All hues are equally popular and stylish.
